UK-based composer and producer Thomas Mountjoy has just dropped his latest EP, Head Rush, available now via Tiny Jackets Recordings. Officially released on Friday, 11th October 2024, Head Rush draws inspiration from the rugged beauty and contrasts of the Greek islands, delivering a compelling blend of dark and light electronic music. The EP captures serene, tranquil moments alongside the intensity of powerful storms, showcasing Mountjoy’s signature ability to craft atmospheric soundscapes.
Renowned for his work in melodic techno, Mountjoy is a versatile multi-instrumentalist whose compositions reflect a broad spectrum of musical influences. His sound has earned him a place in major UK television productions, featuring his music across both BBC and ITV platforms. Recently, Mountjoy’s profile skyrocketed when his work was included in Netflix’s global hit drama series Blood & Water, which garnered over 2.2 million views and reached the platform’s Top 10 in more than 20 countries.
Mountjoy’s journey as a professional musician began in 2021 when he debuted under the Los Angeles-based Noise Refinery label, part of Universal Production Music. Over the past few years, he has signed over 60 tracks with various labels, steadily building a reputation for his intricate and dynamic sound design. His 2020 EP earned praise from Monomyth Records, which hailed his “stunning tracks that feature just the right amount of complexity, coupled with thoughtful sound creation evoking echoes of early Aphex Twin.”
Head Rush represents a milestone for Mountjoy, marking his first release with a commercial label after previously working exclusively in production music. This new chapter sees him expanding his musical horizons, combining his rich experience in music production with fresh creative ideas. The EP promises to capture the imaginations of listeners, blending immersive textures and emotional depth into a powerful, cohesive collection of tracks.
