Josh Butler and his deft label Origins brings yet another top-notch release, this time Sam Townend is at the helm, and he does not disappoint with this pedal to the metal 2 track EP titled ‘Give It Up EP’.
Sam Townend is recognised as one of the most exciting artists coming out of the UK, and with his trademark full throttle House vibes it’s easy to understand why. Having already released his first artist album ‘Fractal’ on Untidy, his supporters range from superstars like Patrick Topping, Chris Lake, Waze & Odyssey, Josh Butler and many more.
Kicking off with the aptly named title track ‘Give It Up’, it’s all go from the very first beat. With its driving hypnotic groove and with the cheeky vocal sample, the old school filtered synths and stomping beats, this is a powerful track and something that needs to be heard on a big system.
On the B-side he brings us another banger in the form of ‘I Can’t Help Michelle’. This roller coaster of a track takes a little different approach but is yet again punted down field with its massive funked up house groove and cool vocal samples. Add to that lush pads, sweet stabs, wicked filters and a big fat bass line, and we’d say after listening to this we honestly don’t think anyone can help Michelle.
Sam Townend's 'Give It Up' is out now on Origins Rcrds.
