Manchester’s own Gareth Cole has been steadily building a name in the house scene. He is recognised for his dark, hypnotic tracks that have graced many late-night dance floors. Back with his latest release, the No Sleep EP on Steve Bug’s Sublease label, Cole brings us three new tracks that continue his reputation for creating immersive, intricate house music.
The EP starts with the title track, “No Sleep,” a rhythmic and moody piece about atmosphere. With driving drums and echoing stabs, this track creates a sense of momentum that feels both urgent and dreamlike. Cole’s vision for the track was simple yet ambitious: “I wanted to tell a story through deep stabs and create dynamic moments in a club setting, without relying on recognisable vocals or sounds. The stabs gave me this unique vibe, and I just built the track around that.” The result is a track that captures a haunting energy, perfect for setting the tone in a late-night set.
Next up is “Distinction,” a slightly tougher tune with a similar sonic feel but a sharper, edgier kick. This track leans into a harder groove, using layered rhythms and deeper basslines to pull listeners into its hypnotic flow. It’s minimal but powerful, a track designed for those moments when you just want to lose yourself in the beat.
Rounding out the EP is “Dynamic,” a slower-burner that might be the three’s deepest cut. Here, Cole takes a more evolving approach with a steady, pulsating hook that weaves through subtle changes. As the layers build, the track becomes more captivating, almost pulling you deeper with each beat. It’s the kind of track that could anchor an early morning set, drawing the crowd in without overpowering the vibe.
With his No Sleep EP, Gareth Cole proves once again that he’s got a knack for creating tracks that are as atmospheric as they are danceable. For fans of deep, hypnotic house, Cole’s work continues to be a refreshing take on what late-night electronic music can be. Keep an eye on him—this release is the latest reason he’s one to watch.
