The twenty seventh release on EI8HT finds the label head honcho Andres Campo return to the roost with the ‘Slam’ EP, a bustling and solid four tracker that’s laced with jackin’ and direct techno chops.
Alongside Bristolian behemoth Eats Everything, Campo has been steering their EI8HT imprint to great things over the last three years, with exceptional releases from the likes of Truncate, Gaston Zani, Black Girl / White Girl, Carlo Lio and many more. The ‘Slam’ EP marks Campo’s second release for the label, and it doesn’t disappoint.
Bolting out of the starting block, title track ‘Slam’ pounds hard and funky, as Campo delivers a banger that’s demonstrative of the techno sounds that he plies in his bombastic DJ sets around the globe. Metallic beats and cheeky vocal samples, all delivered with pace and intensity, form the basis for the accompanying tracks here, with the old skool rave motifs of ‘Horn’ acting as the finale for this flawless release from the boss man.
