The Night Time Industries Association (NTIA) has emphasised the crucial economic impact of events and festivals across the UK, revealing that such gatherings generate £4 for every £1 spent. According to NTIA CEO Michael Kill, these events, including popular ones like Oasis, TRNSMT, and Glastonbury, are cultural touchstones and powerful drivers of economic recovery.
In his statement, Kill underscored the importance of these events in revitalising local economies. “Events & Festivals are vital to the recovery of our towns and cities, estimated to generate an impressive return of over £4 for every £1 spent,” he noted. Kill highlighted that events like Oasis do more than just bring people together—they also support local businesses, create jobs, and inject life into communities.
The NTIA urges policymakers, local authorities, and the public to continue supporting and expanding the events and festival sector. Kill pointed out that the energy and excitement generated by these events are invaluable for economic reasons and inspiring the next generation of artists who could become tomorrow’s headliners.
“The contribution these events make to the economy is undeniable,” Kill added. “We need more of these moments of celebration to secure a prosperous future for our towns and cities.”
The NTIA’s call to action is clear: sustaining and growing the events sector is essential for maintaining the UK’s economic vitality and cultural vibrancy.
