This summer, the house music scene is abuzz with Tilman’s latest release, ‘The Spirit Continues,’ on his Pleasant Systems label. This album marks a milestone in the German producer’s career, offering ten original compositions honouring the genre’s rich history while showcasing his evolving sound.

Tilman, a DJ and producer from Mainz, Germany, has been crafting house music for over fifteen years. His extensive discography includes numerous EPs on respected labels and three previous LPs. ‘The Spirit Continues’ draws from the sounds of 80s NYC proto-garage and the Nu Groove era, blending sturdy, jacking rhythms with ethereal atmospherics, bumpy bass lines, shimmering chords, infectious vocals, and enchanting top lines.

Reflecting on his journey, Tilman said, “I come from a classical background, having played piano and drums during my childhood, which has significantly helped me in producing my own music.” His early experiences as a resident DJ allowed him to experiment and develop his storytelling skills through music.

Influences from iconic records and artists have also played a crucial role in his development. “The ‘Welcome To Paradise’ Compilation, works by Paul Simpson and the Burrell Brothers, Mark Seven’s ‘Working Girl,’ and Soichi Terada’s ‘Sounds From The Far East’ are just a few of the many inspirations that have left a lasting impact on my music,” he shared.

‘The Spirit Continues’ is a compilation of tracks that stand alone yet fit together seamlessly, offering a versatile listening experience. The album features raw and crafted retro-style US Garage House, layered synths, crisp percussions, and heavy bass lines interwoven with elements of deep house and Italian dream house. “This album is a continuation of my growth and progress as both a producer and a listener,” Tilman explained. “I feel I’m getting better at achieving the sound I want.”

Tilman advises fellow artists to stay true to themselves in an era of constant musical evolution and new technologies like AI. “Follow your own musical path instead of trends or pleasing others. Stay true to yourself—it’s a journey that takes time!” He believes that authenticity and dedication will always shine through.

Looking ahead, Tilman focuses on releasing music and showcasing other artists’ work on Pleasant Systems. “My main focus is to keep releasing music under Tilman and to showcase other artists’ work on Pleasant Systems. The label is growing slowly but steadily,” he said.

‘The Spirit Continues’ is a testament to Tilman’s enduring love for house music and his ability to evolve while staying true to the genre’s roots. As we look forward to what he will create next, one thing is sure: Tilman’s spirit and passion for house music will continue to inspire and captivate listeners worldwide.
