Hot Picks: Viv Castle Selects Some of His Favourite Tracks of the Moment

Viv Castle is a British-born DJ and producer, now based in the US. While living in the UK, his first taste of dance music came in the late 80s and early 90s while going to clubs like Manchester’s legendary Haçienda and Thunderdome.

A regular feature behind the decks at Atlanta’s premier venues including Believe Music Hall, District, Opera and others, he made his Imagine Festival debut in 2017 with superstars Tiesto, Deadmau5 and Above & Beyond, and has since shared the stage with AAA artists such as Green Velvet and Oliver Heldens.

Viv Castle spent much of the last two years in the studio honing his craft, and is now set to release his debut single 'Control' on Hausa Groove - OUT NOW.

To celebrate the release of his first record, we asked Viv to put together a playlist of his favourite tracks of the year so far - and it goes a little something like this...

1) Viv Castle - Control

This is my first release and of course it sits at number one on my chart. It's a prime-time banger that I've seen smash on the dance floor.

2) Da Hool, Joel Corry - The Parade

This is a new remake of Da Hool's 1997 classic trance mega tune Meet Her At The Love Parade. I'm usually not a fan or remakes, but this one hits all the notes of a great Tech House track with a good homage to the original.

3) CASSIMM - That Sound

Such a fun like high energy disco house track. Such an amazing vocal, too. Some tracks you can't help but smile when you play them, this is one of those.

4) Avision - Party Started (Set It Off) ft. Strafe

Bangers don't come as hard as this one. It lifts the crowd and forces them to dance. You really don't have a choice.

5) Born Dirty - All Night Long (All Night)

Take Tech House of today, throw in a bit of 80's pop and you wind up with this smasher. Just like CASSIMM's That Sound, you can't help but smile and dance to it. Listen hard enough and you'll hear me singing it.

6) Black V Neck - Procreate

These boys are crushing everything they are doing right now. I am a huge BVN fan, and Procreate is another smash. That driving kick and energizing acid line... yeah, just my cup of tea.

7) TIBASKO - Icaro (ABSOLUTE. Neon Energy Extended Remix)

I feel like too many slept on this one, and it's one of my goto's. It's a different energy that most of my other tracks, but sometimes you need to change it up and this fills that space.

8) Sam WOLFE, KILL SCRIPT - Blackout

I don't often go Peak Time Techno, but when I do this one smashes. It screams business Techno and it really means business!

9) Dom Dolla - Strangers (with Mansionair) (Will Clarke Remix)

Will Clarke really did a masterful job remixing this one. Such a great and different take. It's so good and reminds me a lot of CamelPhat, Cristoph - Breathe ft Jem Cooke.

10) EDUKE - Travolta

EDUKE puts out quality in every track. That repetitive and overlapping lyric just gets me in the groove and does not let go. It's something that I often put into my track too.

Viv Castle's 'Control' is OUT NOW on Hausa Groove!
