In a heartfelt testament to resilience and community support, the legendary UK DJ and producer Ashley Beedle faces one of the most challenging battles of his life. Known for his influential roles in X-Press 2, Black Science Orchestra, and The Ballistic Brothers, Ashley has been a pivotal figure in the UK dance music scene for over 35 years. However, recent health challenges have cast a shadow over his illustrious career.

Ashley, who bravely fought Stage 4 prostate cancer for four years, received his last treatment in October 2023. Yet, in a cruel twist of fate, he suffered a brain bleed and seizure in November 2023 due to a ruptured brain mass. A subsequent 16-hour surgery in February 2024 to remove the mass resulted in a major stroke, leaving him with significant physical impairments, including loss of movement on his right side and speech difficulties.

Despite these setbacks, Ashley’s indomitable spirit shines through. With the exceptional care from the NHS and his unwavering determination, his speech is gradually returning. Recently discharged from a residential rehab centre, Ashley now resides in a nursing home, awaiting suitable assisted living accommodation.

The road ahead is fraught with challenges, not just physically but financially. Having exhausted their savings, Ashley and his family are turning to the generosity of friends, fans, and the wider community. A GoFundMe campaign aims to raise £50,000 to support Ashley’s ongoing care needs, including private physiotherapy, wheelchair-friendly furniture, and a hospital bed for home use.

Ashley Beedle’s contributions to music are legendary. Referenced in Daft Punk’s ‘Teachers’, he has created iconic remixes and productions, including co-writing the hit ‘Lazy’ featuring David Byrne. His work continues with the No’West Production Team and the new Black Science Orchestra project, promising exciting new releases like the remix of Primal Scream’s ‘Love Insurrection’ in Autumn 2024.

The music community is rallying behind Ashley, with fundraising events being organised by industry peers such as David Holmes, Faith, and X-Press 2. These efforts underscore the deep respect and admiration for Ashley’s contributions to music and his enduring spirit.

Contributions can be made through the GoFundMe campaign to support Ashley Beedle in this challenging time. Every donation helps secure Ashley and his family a more comfortable and hopeful future. You can donate via https://gofund.me/a9a14181.
