Irish techno duo Disfreq are set to release the 2nd part of their mini-debut album Picture on Solomun’s Diynamic record label out now.
Following up on Part 1’s head-turning release earlier this month, the duo are dropping three new tracks to round out the release.
‘Flame’ pairs an ethereal vocal with pulsating synths, building on the euphoria of previously released opening track ‘Como’. At the backend of the tracklist, ‘Moville’ shuffles into a gallop on the back of a muscular French House-inspired groove, before ‘Danz’ rounds out the album with a climactic techno flourish.
Speaking on the album, Disfreq said: “There are no barriers nor rules in electronic music, our Picture Series is our way of showing just that. We really wanted to take this opportunity to showcase the more musical side to Disfreq, and moving forward we will continue to strive for originality”.
Following a string of lauded releases on the likes of Diynamic, Trick, Kneaded Pains and Arcane, Disfreq have carved out a reputation as one of the most exciting young duos in dance music. Their music has been supported by the likes of Solomun, Adam Beyer, Joseph Capriati, Jamie Jones, Skream, Andrea Oliva, Eli Brown, Rebuke, Deborah De Luca, T78, Hi-Lo among others. Their previous Diynamic release 'Essa Mina' has garnered over 900K Spotify streams and remains a firm set favourite for Solomun to this day, while also seeing enormous success on his label. Their recent release ‘Psychedelic Girls’ featured on BBC Radio 1 as Sarah Story’s ‘Tune ID’, while Dance music legend Pete Tong selected them to perform on his ‘Sounds of Ibiza Radio 1’ special. The title tracks from their ‘All My Friends’ and ‘Gotta Be Big’ EPs were also both featured as two of the best-selling Beatport techno tracks in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
Originating from Donegal in Ireland, Disfreq cut their teeth in Belfast’s thriving club scene, inspired by raves thrown at the city's legendary venues such as Shine, Telegraph Building, Limelight and more. It wasn’t long before the duo found themselves on lineups of their own, selling out shows in Belfast, leading onto sets at DC10, Amnesia in Ibiza, Poland, Bulgaria, and the Diynamic showcase supporting Solomun at Printworks. The duo have continued to build memorable events in the house and techno scene, whilst building an ever-growing following of loyal fans along the way.
With Part 2 of Picture, Disfreq have cemented themselves in the scene as the dance producers to watch.
