Darem Aissa delivers a well-crafted minimal EP featuring two deep and stripped back original tracks, plus a hefty set of remixes by Cesare vs Disorder, Tadeo Catzin and Jerome.c.
The release is out now via Darem Aissa’s record label Suleiman, which has been a regular outlet for his music. It’s an imprint that primarily shares the same sound as its owner, as it signs techy tracks that are both atmospheric and dance floor focused.
Of the remix artists, Cesare vs Disorder is likely the name which will standout to most people, as he is a veteran producer who has worked with leading record labels such as Rawax, Cocoon, Pleasure Zone and Vakant. He provides a bass-heavy remix with breakbeat rhythms.
Jerome.c is the only artist on this release to have not previously featured on Suleiman, and he expresses a percussive style with his remix. Tadeo Catzin has been something of a regular on Suleiman, and he also provides an atmospheric remix of the EP’s title track, “Dream.”
The original mix of “Phase 3” opens the release with floaty vocals and sweeping pads which are combined with crisp claps and a tense bassline. Cesare vs Disorder’s remix of “Phase 3” makes the vocal sound more distant, while stripping back some of the percussion, and also making the bassline more prominent.
“Dream” is the third track on the release, and it combines trippy vocal tones with soothing pads, melodic bass chords and tense sweeps. Tadeo Catzin’s remix of “Phase 3” adds an acid bassline, and makes prominent use of the original’s atmospheric pads. Jerome.c transforms “Phase 3” into a gritty version with heavy percussion.
