Armada Music Relaunches Renowned New York house label, King Street Sounds.

King Street Sounds

Founded in 1993 by Hisa Ishioka, the label derives its name from the legendary Paradise Garage club’s street. King Street Sounds has been a platform for nearly 2,000 releases from luminaries such as Ultra Naté, Blaze, Kerri Chandler, and many more, boasting an extensive and influential catalogue of independently released house music.

Hisa Ishioka expressed her excitement about the relaunch, stating, “We are thrilled to celebrate the rich history of King Street Sounds and breathe new life into the extraordinary music that started it.” She emphasised Armada Music and Beatport’s pivotal role in this new chapter, highlighting the collaboration’s potential to empower creators and the dance music genre.

As part of the relaunch festivities, a fresh remix series titled ‘King Street: Beat Match’ is being introduced, with artists like Kasango, Demi Riquísimo, and Demuja putting their spin on tracks from Dennis Ferrer, Barbara Tucker, and Mood II Swing.

The relaunch also includes plans for new original music releases and a visual rebranding. A content partnership with Beatport will also showcase the legacy and contemporary artists associated with King Street Sounds.

Armada Music acquired King Street Sounds through the BEAT Music Fund, the world’s first dance music investment platform established in April 2023. Maykel Piron, CEO of Armada Music and the BEAT Music Fund expressed enthusiasm for the relaunch, underscoring the commitment to preserving King Street Sounds’ legacy while exploring new opportunities.

The relaunch of King Street Sounds is a significant milestone for Armada Music and the BEAT Music Fund as they strengthen dance music’s global presence. Check out the official announcement below:
